PAPAS 2024 Annual Report Potato Nematode Research Progress

PAPAS 2024 Annual Report Highlights Research Program

The PAPAS 2024 annual report showcases significant progress made in research for systems approach to potato nematode management.

Our 2024 annual report shows how we’re integrating the full spectrum of control strategies – like breeding for resistance and improved diagnostics – into a systems approach for potato nematode management. An effort of this scope to solve these challenges has never been attempted before, and we’re excited to share the progress we’ve made.

The goal of PAPAS is to protect the profitability and sustainability of the U.S. potato crops through improved nematode control. The PAPAS 2024 annual report features progress updates in each area of potato nematode research, including:

  • Decision support for growers to protect potato yields and crop quality.
  • Data analysis of the economic impact of potato nematodes.
  • Advances in nematode identification and diagnostics.
  • Potato variety trial results in breeding for nematode resistance.
  • Development of novel nematicides from litchi tomoto.

By delivering data-driven tools, research, and new solutions for more effective, sustainable management of plant-parasitic nematodes, PAPAS is helping potato farmers protect crop yields, limit economic losses, and avoid regulatory action.

We continue to hear positive feedback from the industry and encourage potato growers, researchers, and industry professionals to explore our work.
