PAPAS Joins NEM-EMERGE in Istanbul
The NEM-EMERGE consortium held its 2nd Annual Meeting in Istanbul, hosted by Ondokuz Mayıs University, from February 9-11, 2026. PAPAS Project Director Louise-Marie Dandurand, Ph.D., attended the event and presented progress updates about potato nematode research.
The event brought nearly 50 partners in nematode research together to present project progress, exchange ideas, and discuss upcoming activities and next steps.
Achievements showcased during the meeting, highlighting both the scientific depth and the collaborative effort behind the results, included:
- Extensive field sampling
- Establishment of collections of virulent and avirulent nematode populations
- Development of nematode identification toolkits
- Genetic analyses
- Stakeholder surveys
Throughout the discussions, partners consistently emphasized the importance of delivering results that are directly relevant to end users, particularly breeding companies and farmers.
